Two guided walks in Bega on the weekend raised over $500 for Australian Rotary Health. The walks were conducted by the South Coast History Society and Peter Lacey did a wonderful job of explaining the history of the town and how it has changed over the past 150-or-so years.  To highlight Hat Day and to "Lift the Lid on Mental Illness", participants were asked to wear a hat, period-style if possible, and most people did. If you missed out there will be another walk on 6 November. Please phone Peter Lacey on 0448160852 to book your place.
The campaign to Lift the Lid on Mental Illness, was founded by Australian Rotary Health Vice Chairman Greg Ross, in 2016 in partnership with Rotary Clubs of Victoria. The event was such a success that it has now been extended to all Rotary Clubs across Australia. Each year approximately 1-in-5 Australians will experience a mental illness and in order to help future generations of young Australians, we need to look ahead through research and find out how we can prevent this type of illness occurring. You can support this wonderful initiative by making a donation on World Mental Health Day, October 10 to your local Rotary Club or to Australian Rotary Health
